Mark + Candice | Hong Kong Pre-wedding Session

We took time out of the busiest wedding month of the year to drop by a much cooler Hong Kong around Christmas time a couple of weeks ago to shoot an E-session. In the midst of the Christmas rush, Mark and Candice roamed the streets of HK Central like lovers do. They also left an impression in Kat Hing Wai, an old town whose history dates back 500 years down to the Ming Dynasty. Here is the clip of Mark and Candice’s photos from their E-session. Man and Vicky are from Hong Kong. They’re getting married this coming September. They have already done the “usual” pre-wedding pictorial in Hong Kong and they wanted to do something different for their engagement session here in the Philippines.

Peter + Emily | Cebu E-session

Ever watched those silly movies on TV where the nerd guy gets the hot girl at the end and they live happily ever after? You could almost swear to yourself that it never really happens much in real life. Well, Peter and Emily are the perfect example of real-life relationships playing out like it is in the movies. If you take one look at Emily, you’d probably peg her as one that would never go for someone like Peter. But catch these two together and you’d be showered with reasons that break all the stereotypes you have on a partnership like theirs.

Channeling Vogue magazine, we fused drama and style onto the concept of this engagement session. You would think that that would be difficult considering we’re not working with professional models for the shoot, but Peter and Emily brought on their A-game and exceeded all our expectations with every direction we gave them. These guys are naturals! This was one of those days when an e-session shoot came together so perfectly. Two locations (one relevant to the groom-to-be, the other relevant to the bride-to-be) and several dresses later, add to the mix the magic of Wenwen Zaspa’s make-up artistry, and we had ourselves a brilliant collection of photos just begging to grace the pages of the world’s top fashion magazines. Okay, we’re exaggerating a bit. But lookie here, aren’t they just to-die-for? Peter and Emily, you guys make us blush.

Dino + Diana | Shangri-la Mactan Cebu Engagement Session

Happy New Year =)

We would like to thank everyone for giving Rock Paper Scissors a truly wonderful and memorable 2010. It was a year of many firsts.  Sometime in August last year we had our first out-of-Cebu destination wedding which took us to Bohol followed by our first international destination wedding two weeks later in Hongkong.  It was a venture into new territories for us and we’re happy to have faced the challenge and represent Cebu out there.   Of course, it didn’t hurt that we also had our first magazine feature in Wedding Essentials last year.

2011 just might be Rock Paper Scissors’ best year yet!  The bars we have set for ourselves are high and we are determined to reach, if not exceed, them. Some exciting stuff are in the brew. *wink wink*

We’re thinking of having an annual year-in-summary post where we can show some of our favorite photos of that year. It would be nice to look back and see the best photos from 2010 (including some never-before-seen ones), yeah?  So look out for that one after we complete a few more catch up posts to round out the year that was. Yes, we’re late with the blogging haha.

We start off the year by sharing with you guys Dino (Taewoo Kim) and Diana’s engagement session at Shangrila Mactan Cebu Resort and Spa.  An attractive and classy couple deserves nothing less than the same amount of elegance they exude. We took the fashion route for their e-session and they totally nailed it. Simple, classy, elegant.

Dexter + Beverly | Iloilo and Boracay Engagement Session

As previously mentioned (here), not only were we ecstatic to have met Dexter and Beverly but you could almost say that it was sweet serendipity at work. For weeks now we’ve had the wonderful opportunity of traveling to a lot of places around the world the country and we are endlessly grateful to have been graced with a bunch of warm and good-hearted clients.  We owe a huge part of it to this wonderful couple for setting off a good amount of out-of-town bookings for us when they became the first ones to take us outside of Cebu and on to Boracay and Iloilo (Dexter’s hometown) earlier this year for their engagement (prenup) session.

Boracay, commercial as it may have become as of late, has still got to be one of the more romantic destinations in the country.  There’s something about its white powdery sands, the clear turquoise water, and the perfect view of its orange sunset that makes it irresistibly charming.  All of these characteristics made for the perfect setting for the concept we had in mind for this e-session.

Concept + Location + Dexter + Beverly + Rock Paper Scissors = One HAPPY engagement session!

Adrian + Pansy | Hong Kong Engagement Session

We find it a little funny that our second ever destination (out-of-Cebu) wedding is one that would take us out of the country and into the bustling urban jungle of Hong Kong. Of course, we can’t complain.

There was a lot of pressure though for us coming into this shoot because the couple already had an engagement session in Manila with master Lito Sy and we’re doing their wedding and e-session in Hong Kong.  Our first out-of-the-country e-session didn’t go as easy as we hoped it would be because a tropical cyclone was on its way even before we started the engagement session and midway through it, Hong Kong was already placed under signal #3!  But in true Rock Paper Scissors fashion, rain or shine or typhoon (LOL!), the show must go on.

Brian + Jhoe | Vintage E-session

I know how excited you are to see the rustic chic vintage wedding of Brian Minerva and Josephine Sicad-Minerva. But we will have to keep you in suspense a little longer! For the meantime, let’s have a look at their engagement session that we shot just a few hours before the wedding.

Their videographer wanted to do a few layouts to be used on their onsite wedding video. We thought we could also get some good portrait shots of the couple while they’re at it. Indeed, it turned out to be a great set! I just love how natural they are in front of the camera. You can really see and feel the love they have for each other weeehhh! Josh + Shine | Cebu Modern Engagement Session

Shine and Josh are planning to get married in Japan. Since they can’t bring all their relatives and friends, they decided to throw an engagement party here in Cebu and have their e-session done the following day. The plan was just to shoot at the rooftop in the hotel the couple was staying. When we saw Josh inside the hotel room smoking, we can’t help but insist that the shoot be continued in the room. Josh in his American Air Force uniform and Shine in her sexy black outfit looks like one of those made-for-tv movies.

Josh and Shine are such nice people. We had a fun time shooting their engagement party and the e-session except that there was a slight problem with the couple and the hotel.  But that’s another story =)

To Josh and Shine: we are crossing our fingers for the Japan wedding! *wink* *wink* Enjoy the slightly edgier-than-usual photos!

Goodie + Kathy | Cebu Engagement Session

Christopher Nolan’s latest film Inception is mind-blowing and kick-ass! Exactly the same as Goodie and Kathy’s pre-wedding session in Cebu. We are quite happy with how this one turned out considering we had to come up with a totally different concept for them at the very last minute and at our busiest month so far!

The original concept that the couple wanted was kinda difficult to achieve location- and props-wise. Although it would have been pretty amazing if we’ve done that. For Goodie and Kathy’s e-session, we wanted to defy gravity. It’s 90 degrees angle for the couple including the furniture and props. It’s crazy, fun, yet challenging! One of us stood in the middle of the street; brownout to the max; just praying for dear life that no vehicle would hit him just to get some good shots! We finished the shoot at 8pm.
